Colloidal and suspended solids in the air is one of the biggest solutions in reverse osmosis (RO) systems. Although most RO systems have several forms of pre-treatment, including 5-micron pre-filters, these fine particles are responsible for fouling the reverse osmosis membrane.
To measure the level of this pollution problem, the size called the manual Silt Density Index (SDI) is. Here the filtration rate is calculated by exposing the 0.45-micron filter to the feed air below it. Less than 5 SDIs are usually acceptable for reverse osmosis systems. This means the membrane must rot at a very low level at an SDI value of less than 5. Although this concept works mostly, there are messages that form a lower SDI (less than 3) which is favored because of the nature of suspended solids in the feed air.
Manual SDI test kits that are precise, high quality and ideal portability for routine monitoring and troubleshooting of RO systems are compact units suitable for monitoring Sediment Density Indexes.
